"Our overarching goal is to be the best organization in the world in our class.

We are a team — everyone on the team is committed to that goal. We may disagree on strategies and tactics, But in the end, we stay as a team.

Our team is very strong with intelligent, experienced and dedicated people, but some need more development.

We work together to strengthen our team.
We always act with integrity; we communicate candidly. We all work to satisfy, if not delight, our customers. We team with stockholders, suppliers, regulators, unions, financial institutions and other stakeholders in that effort.

Our products, services, technologies, systems, processes and procedures are in need of continuous innovation and improvement — and always will be — to delight customers and be better than the best competitors. We never forget that our revenues must exceed our expenses — or in the short run or long, we will close our doors.

Now what will we accomplish in this meeting to move us aggressively closer to our overarching goal — to be the best organization in the world in our class?"

So spoke the new CEO and chair of the deeply troubled company in opening every meeting of directors, executives, managers, employees and other partners during the first year.

After that it wasn't necessary.
